Wheel Spacers

Hi Guys, just a quick query; I'm changing my front tyres on my mk1 S that has the standard 255 tyres fitted.
I want to fit 235/40/18 as there are a few threads recommending this size for improved handling and reduced tram lining. Do I still require the 3mm wheel spacer with these tyres or does the tyre geometry fix this?

KPI/castor was changed by TVR around end of 2000
but some of the later cars still feel beter with 3mm in
increasing the scrub rad can feel like increasing the castor in these cars

early one has only one set of 4 holes in top

Yours is a later car so has the updated castor and KPI set up, meaning you shouldn't need the spacers in the same way as earlier cars do.

I did changed the tyre size and added spacers, both made a difference.

2002 here and i fitted them made a significant difference

The Mk1 S was the first to be fitted with the revised geometry that was later rolled out to all cars.

My Mk1 S felt better and more planted with the 3mm spacers fitted, and it was good before.

However having run both 255/35 and 235/40's on the front there was in my opinion no discernible difference in the handling or feel of the car between the two tyre sizes.

I've now got sessantas all round and the difference from potenzas is very noticeable. Don't know if it's a better tyre or the change in size but a big plus either way. Think I'm going to use a smilie...

Vred sessantas rock, its as though they were made for ths tuscan, its completely stopped my car from tramlining, even in the wet the car feels totally stable, superb tyres.

+1. There's a replacement out for the Sessanta now that looks very like the F1 Asym. They don't do them in 235/40 though.

FYI I'm currently running 255/35/18 rear, 235/4018 front with spacers and I now get a say in where the car goes. Which is nice.
Thoroughly chuffed.

Does the Spacers make any difference for 16 inch wheels handling or does it only make a difference for 18 inch?

Not just me then I bought some for my Mk2 and didn't think made any difference, not that I really had a problem before I too sold them on
