Help :( Fitted a new uprated starter - something is wrong...
Discussion
Fitted the uprated starter - rushed to get it all back together and somehow i think i have cocked up.
Went to connect the battery back up and the starter threw and began to spin straight away, so i disconnected again immediately.
I was sure i connected as per the old one, but given its a different starter maybe i have wired it incorrectly.
Obviously there is the cable from the soleniod to the motor which i didnt touch.
The start signal cable i connected the terminal nearest the engine block on the solenoid, as per the old one, and the big fuse and cable back to the battery to the central terminal above the terminal that i didnt touch - solenoid to motor.
What the bloody hell have i dont wrong anyone know???
Starter is the bosch 0001110041 1.7 kw upgrade that others have fitted....

Well, thinking about this i think it HAS to be a short caused by the battery cable touching either the ignition wire terminal or the termnical from which the solenoid and starter connect.
I was worried i may have fried the ECU through the ignition lead until i really thought about it - this lead had to be dead when i connected the battery because the ignition was off and i had the key in my hand (ready to disarm the alarm!!) so at worst i have damaged the ignition switch (i hope not but a possibility).
If the key had been in ignition position it may have been different
Will hopefully take a look later and all will be well.
