I need a new battery for my 2003 Tuscan S, should this be a straight like for like swap or are there any more powerful units to be recommended?

Get a battery with the highest CCA figure you can.

Dimensions are critical to fit on the battery tray and locate under the 'tab' on the inboard side/nearest engine, and also to be clamped on the outboard side. I got a type 72 Varta with CCA 680 amps and that's been fine, but had to trim a bit from the bottom 'flange' to fit it.
