Aftermarket TVR warranty

Hi guys,

This is my first post here and also my first TVR. Bought a 2005 Tuscan 2 S at the weekend and picking up next Saturday.

I'm interested in getting an aftermarket warranty for the mechanicals and the electrics, but have been struggling when looking on the internet. Could anyone recommend any vendors?

I'm based in West Yorkshire, so vehicle inspections down south are a little bit difficult for me.

Any advice you can offer is greatly appreciated.

You have probably got me at a 'bad' time here as my car went in for a service a couple of weeks ago, approx 10 items flagged up as a problem including clutch, slave cylinder and a few other mid-cost items, and only 1 of the items was covered officially - the dealership is helping me out as much as poss to be fair - my advice is to bag the 1300 quid it will cost you and stick it in the bank, the warranty looks great but in reality there are too many 'requirements' for failures etc even on a wear and tear warranty - for example my clutch will last approx 1-2000 miles but is not covered because it hasn't 'broke', although i could possibly do that mileage in a week...

Bottom line is on top of your 1300 quid warranty there WILL be repairs that are not covered across a year so you still need to budget 2.5 to 3k per year including the warranty.

I reckon you should treat it as a top-end/rebuild warranty as they are generally covered apparently - so you pays ya money takes ya chance.

as for the top end rebuild being covered. i'll be able to tell you that on wednesday!

note for anyone who lives with a warranty company engineer - please ensure your other half gets laid on tuesday night to ensure a good mood when (possibly) inspecting my car's engine. ta.

I must say that ALL warrantys are a waste of time and money, i tried two claim twice on my last 3 tvrs and both time they would not pay up. Put the money in a bank and use it as a slush fund.

I had a look at warrantyworks.co.uk and the online quotes I was given were in a word shit!

600ish premium for a max per claim limit of £1000! even thier best policy only paid £2500 per claim.

So in the event of something major they are next to useless, in the event of a smooth claim free year they are just plain expensive.

I had thought about getting a warranty for when the TVR Power engine rebuild warranty runs out on mine but decided it just wasnt worth the money.

If the worst happens and the engine goes pop another power rebuild will come with a 2year unlimited milage waranty now anyway which is equivalent to nearly 3 grands worth of premium.

of course other things do go wrong but from what I have read here they pale into insignifigance cost-wise compared to a full engine rebuild (clutch 1500ish? shocks 1000ish for good-uns, gearbox ????)
