Hi all,
Could be nothing, could be something.....
Washed the car today - probably got a good bit wetter than it would normally as I used a small power hose, just for rinsing and underneath the car, no real pressure up close.
Anyway, was out for a spin and no problems, warmed up as normal etc, etc. Picked my daughter up from after-school club and as we drove off I noticed quite a severe hesitance at low rev's when accelerating. Harder pressure on the throttle and the hesitance went away quickly, up over 2.5Krpm's. It still seemed to be doing it for the mile or so home, in all gears. Trying to hold the rev's at around 2K in 4th was very, very lumpy but, again, it went away with acceleration.
Also noticed that the left indicator flash was faster than normal - both lamps, front and back, working fine though, just flashing faster than the right side.
Firstly, could the hesitance be related to water ingress? Secondly, could the 2 "issues" be connected? Did I get something too wet maybe? (Here's hoping....)
Cheers
Andy

Ok, took it out earlier no problems which was good. However, noticed that the water heated up really quick and, even when both fans kicked in, the temp went over 100. Came home pretty much straight away and let the pressure escape out of the expansion bottle cap before taking it off completely.
Now, the car is on a very, very slight downhill slope and there was a very small amount of water visible in the horizontal section of the filler pipe. Probably a couple of mm only. Put in a pint of water slowly which all drained in and left about the same few mm sitting in the pipe (perhaps a bit more).
Question is - if it overheated in Holland on Monday and the pressure meant that I lost some fluids through the cap, how much could I put in, when should I stop and could there be airlock(s)?
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to offer their input..
Andy
PS: there is no evidence of any leaks in the garage under the car

update - just put 3.5 pints of water into the expansion bottle.....
I need to run it up to temp but I think it might be alright now. I have never had to top it up before but then perhaps it was always running a bit hot. Will be interesting to see how it runs now.
Andy
PS: Should I have used something other than water? Was too late to think about it by the 3rd bottle and didn't pre-empt that I would need that much....ho hum...
