week one of ownership! More observations!

Completed my first week (and a bit) of ownership, done quite a few miles now. still loving the theatrical experience of driving the tuscan!
I see what everyone means about the handling being a bit wonky, especially at higher speeds! get into triple figures for any length of time and its almost like the steering isnt connected to the wheels any more!!
nitrons will probably be on the wish list for winter maintenance!
I think I have wash and polish obsessive compulsive disorder, If I keep going at the rate of 2-3 washes a week I might wear the paint off!
Is the speed 6 always as lumpy as a tractor when its cold? Started her last night with the intent of going for a quick drive (started raining straight away so had to put her away again) but I thought the doors were going to fall off it was so lumpy/rattly !!
Also when its nice and warm and at a healthy running temp it sounds like theres a tobacco tin full of bolts being shaken under the bonnet! Im guessing this is the tappets? they supposed to sound like that?
am I nuts to attempt a trackday with the standard suspension? Im looking at getting one booked for next month (have a ride-drive course book warly in the month) after I have checked volume levels will be ok!
Other than that its been great!
p.s been shifting to 3rd before reverse as recommended and it works a treat!

The standard suspension is fine for track days if setup correctly. This includes getting the tyre pressures correct.
If you're new to the car, you will find the steering to be very sensitive to inputs, so you could just be getting used to it.
Is the speed 6 always as lumpy as a tractor when its cold? Yes, more so for older cars.
When warm - it can still sound tappety. My experience of a worn follower was that it sounded like a hammer drumming on an anvil - very loud and much different from the normal tappety sound. And of course doesn't change when the engine warms up.
