Clutch Replacement

Hi – This morning I tried to select reverse and all I got was a fist full of teeth and suspect I have a few broken fingers in the clutch assembly. The gear selection got tight while driving home last night. 
I will check the reservoir tonight to make sure its not salve cylinder fault, but it amounts to the same !
Has anybody replaced a clutch on a MK1, if so do you have any advice tips etc ?
I have been lead to believe that you need to :- split the gearbox from the bell housing (to provide more room in the chassis). Can anybody confirm this ?
Also – I have read in the past that Clever Trevor’s clutch is the best way to go, is this correct ?
They have no stock whereas dealers do ?????
Is the clever trevor route worth waiting for ...?

ph'er madmark created a really smart word doc detailing how to do this with pics, ok it's on a cerb but should be pretty similar I am sure. do a search for clutch swap on the cerbers forum and you should find it.
Also try contacting LEVEN, I think they keep spare trevor levor clutches in stock. Don't forget to send your old one back to CT though as they need them to rebuild for new ones. I think this is why they are short as most people bin the old ones.

I might have got my facts a little muddled. I spoke to TVR Craft and I have a 'super clutch' main assembly and a Tilton thrust. Craft are now using Tilton main assemblies as well.
The full Tilton clutch including fitting is £1195 + VAT. I don't know how long the fitting takes but they do some mods to the fly wheel as well (I had mine done at the same time as a rebuild).
The clutch is so much lighter with the Tilton thrust in. You can crawl along in a traffic jam without a throbbing calf muscle!
I have been told the clutch can also take up to 600 bhp which should be plenty.
