speed six - tuscan servicing
Discussion
Hello everyone,
Just thought I would give you a brief idea of my recent experience in getting my car serviced.
I am located in the West Midlands area, and have in the past been very frustrated at not being able to find a reliable 'proper' independant specialist to service and look after my early (2000 W)Tuscan.
I have on previous occasions been heartily ripped off by each Main dealer with this and previous TVR's. And have never felt the money had been well spent, or even that the car was running properly or better on return.
On Wednesday evening I collected my car from Torque RVT in Cheshire (Middlewich) where Ian had given it a good going over, and a 12000 mile service.
I have to say the car is transformed - never has it pulled so hard, or smoothly. The car now ticks over smoothly, doesnt sound like a bag of spanners, and has developed the most evil bark from the CCC stainless cans.
When I dropped it off it sounded like a tractor, and was very lumpy. I was fearful that I needed thedreaded rebuild.
Ian was full of useful information and took a lot of photos of the top end of the engine - which showed that the camshaft, followers etc were in good order and didn't need to be rebuilt. The cause of most of my problems was terrible tappett settings and a very loose timing chain.
At long last I think I have found a true specialist & enthusiast who is not just there to rip us off (he could easily of convinced me that a £6K rebuild was in order - in fact I fully expected it!).
If you are in the Midlands / North West area and have the same experiences as me, in over 12 years of TVR ownership, then give Ian a call I am sure he can and will help.
Andrew
