Petrol Tank Removal - How?

I've noticed when I fill up the tank I get a really strong smell of petrol. Upon investigation there is some evidence of petrol leaking on the right hand side behind and down from the sender gauge which is positioned on the top of the tank. I am planning on removing the tank for further investigation. It looks fairly straightforward but has anyone else done this who can advise on the correct process.

I had the same happen to me.....

I got Sebring to do it and there was a crack near the overflow pipe on the rhs....
