I have a 500 chimaera and the chap I bought it off changed for a speed six, after two months he sold as he found it to be too different and too got to rev it style as oposed to the v8 low down grunt. He didnt buy another TVR after that

I owned Lee's Chim (it is a beauty!) and now own a T350C, and am loving it! OK, it's only been less than a week, and the central locking is already misbehaving, but everything else is great! I don't miss the V8 roar or the removable roof. The styling is so much up to date! Do it Lee!
If like me you get paranoid about every little noise,temperature changes,possible big bills,take a deep breath and really think about it.I changed to a tuscan and it is nearly a great car and mine has nothing wrong with it,i'm just paranoid.What ever decision you come to you've still got a TVR.

You are not mad. Get a test drive and find out just how legendary this car is in either Mk1 or Mk2 versions (I'd try both)
...all conjecture I know, but don't always assume it will be more expensive to run. Yes, it is a more complex car, but bear in mind that on average the cars are younger so less chance of age related issues...

Glad you got another TVR mate!Thannks for all the advice, I reckon once I get a bit more money put aside I will sell the Chim and go for a Tuscan, as I just love the way they look.
Was thinking of a Cerbera, but like the 'roof off' factor too much!

Hi, I sold my Chimaera 400 and went to a Tuscan.
At first I missed the V8 as I had to have a rebuild but after the S6 running in, I realised what the engine was about.
Was in Northern France the last three weeks, spotted plenty of Mazarati's, Ferrari's and Porches but only 1 Griffith and 1 Chimaera near Brighton.
The amount of people, old and young, British or foreign, who speak to you or photograph the "beautiful car" is amazing and I have never experienced so many people just stopping to watch you pass by.
Fantastic car and a privilage to own.
PS anyone got a rear screen clip ?

Did the same exchanging my old chim 400 for a Tuscan Mk1.
Yes it has been a bit more expensive to run, the Sp 6 sounds different (not quite as good as the V8) but don't regret it. The car feels much more contemporary drives and handles much better (despite what people might say about the MK1) the power difference is notable and all feels much tighter.
Inconspicuous the car is not which can be good and bad in equal measures...

Had one of the last Chims made (450) and loved it. However, the Mk1 S I have now is even better! It's a more modern feeling car, rides really well (although is on Gaz suspension now) and is faster than anything else I've ever driven. It hasn't cost more to run than the Chim (touch wood) and performed faultlessly in France this summer. Have't ever regretted the change. Wish the other half loved it as much as I do!!
