Here’s one for you…
Where is the heater flap/fan control unit on the Tuscan 2 convertible?
I’ve looked through other posts on here and checked out under the dash on the passenger side only to find the window controller along with some other bits but no heater control unit. Also I’ve found a potentiometer with what looks like a temperature sensor attached from one of the heater ducts.
The “flap” position indicator available on the dash read out does not indicate full movement and also changes with fan speed so I’m guessing it’s the controller which is at fault.
Anyone got any ideas?

The heater control unit on the Tuscan 2 Vert is in the drivers footwell velcroed to the R/H side near the fuse box.

On a MK1 the control boxes for the windows/doors are just forward of the gear lever under the centre consol. The heater control unit is in the passenger foot well and look exactly the same as the window control boxes. I guess they used the same cases for all their control boxes.

Mine are very helpfully marked with masking tape with writing on them, always wondered if this is how they came out of the factory??

Hope this helps.

I can't find the heater control in either the left or right hand foot wells. I have found the 2 window controlers, one in the left foot well for the left window and one in the right foot well for the right window.
Anybody got any ideas as to the location of the heater control?

Stephen,

Seeing as how you found the door ECU's in the footwells, could the heater ECU be under the centre console perhaps? If it isn't around the passenger dash area then I can't think where else it might be....

Just spoke to a man who knows...Flap position 16 is factory setting for cooling flap which allows hot air from heater pump into car, pump positioned above battery on passenger side ..flap is also there...On some cars hot air can still come in if poor fit so he has had to set at 20/22...normally he sets at 18....but suggests using temp gauge to set it properly because you don't want to over stress the motor....Hope I've related the info properly...Keith

Does your contact know where the control unit is for the heater?

Hi Stephen, According to two men who should know ('cos they're ex factory)...Mk 2's don't have a heater control unit (Mk 1s have).... So give up looking for one...I can only assume base setting is controlled by flap setting and the motor on the flap.(if too much hot air coming in change setting to 18-21...although a thread on the T350 forum people are setting at 26 which is too high according to my source)...Cheers Keith
P.S. Apparantly if you pull back the carpet in the passenger footwell, there is a grommet, if removed you can see the cooling flap above the battery...I haven't done this 'cos I don't want to unglue the carpet.

Ah that would explain why I can't find the heater control unit!! I've tried adjusting the flap setting but that doesn't seem to work either so sounds like it's up with the carpet!!

Too much heat is the issue at the moment. I'm wondering if the flap is loose as the LEDs indicate blue (cold) until I turn on the fan and then it indicates one or two LEDs away from cold.

Good luck...from what I gather a motor operates the flap and it's nominal closed position is the factory settings position..factory set to 16 , if hot air is coming in try increasing to 21 or even up to 26(from the T350 thread) ...I guess if the motor is knackered it could be open all the time....keep us posted on your findings..thanks Keith
