can you afford 3K per year to run it?
ie. 12k service + a couple of extras = £1000
new tires rear tires (every 12- 18 months?) = £400
clutch every 20k miles =£1000 - £1400 so lets say £300pa
fettling and tuning once pa = £300
polish = £100 to £1000
unforseen engine attension every 40k or so miles? = £500pa
new shiney things cos you love it £500pa
stone chip respray every couple of years £300
........
the list goes on
if you can afford it you'll love it, if not you'll probably love the chim almost as much (but they will also cost a fair bit to run)

Steve - to Custards point, if you can afford to cover not only all the "normal" running costs but also unforseen ones as well, then could be a bargain; the mistake is to think that £15k covers everything as to purchase the car and then be left not being able to cover a major bill for a while completely negates the point of getting it in the first place.
I am convinced there are currently some real bargains to be had out there, but as stated above you must go into it with your eyes open.
An older engine could be fine for 'X' number of miles/years, or could fail within the 1st couple of months.
Obviously, the real bargain to be had (if there is any such example) would be a well maintained early Tuscan with recent clutch and rebuild for the £15k mark. If not, take your time and find one with maybe a half decent warranty attached to it.
Even at worst case scenario (again provided you can afford it) is a £15k outlay, with a rebuild and clutch in the 1st year, meaning a £22k outlay to get yourself a well sorted example.
I challenge anyone to find another marque to deliver the same driving experience for £22k.

I drove a Tuscan s a few years ago,but ended up buying a Griff 500.custard
I have always remembered that test drive and hankered after a Tuscan ever since.
Just luck of the draw I suppose if I get a good one.

With a bit of luck you can find a nice car for £15k, i just bought mine for less than that and it seems ok so far. mine is a 2001 X, it has had an engine and gearbox rebuild and all the usual niggels have been sorted out. I have put £1k aside if it needs a new clutch. there are risks.... but for the money your paying you wont belive what you'll get. Cars do not get much faster than this and its beautiful to look at, wouldn't belive the attention it gets.
Now summer is over be easier to get a bargin. My advice is dont be fussed with the colour of the car only what work has been done on it and hows its been looked after. make sure it has had a engine rebuild and good service history where the tappets have been done. Best of luck take your time and find the right car. dont be affraid to put an offer on a private car as most are over priced.

the seasons will effect prices but remember last year had a big effect due to the factory problems, now people are aware that most parts are available, some more easily now due to the problems the prices seem to have firmed again so you might not get as big a drop this winter, keep looking and if a good one turns up then snap it up quick.
