My cigar/ cigarette lighter fell to bits one day as I was pulling out the satnav power cable. I managed to work out how it all screwed back together but now it's not working. All te dicking about may have blown a fuse but I can't find an obvious fuse box and wouldn't know which fuse it was if I can find it.

Anyone have any clues for self administered assistance please ?

Fuse box is in the drivers footwell above your knees.

5th fuse from the back on the left side of the box.

Thanks Phil. I have found the fuse box but haven't got round to finding a spare fuse to check. Will mean to let you know how I get on but will probably forget !

I have changed the blown fuse (thanks for the heads up etc.) but still nothing. Any other ideas ?

You wouldn't believe how irritating it is not haviong something so simple as a cigarette lighter is (until your satnav goes off in the middle of journey because the battery has run flat !)

Ian,

Did the fuse blow again after you replaced it? Are you able to check if you have 12vdc at the lighter terminals? Is there anything else that has suddenly stopped working such as your radio or interior light maybe that might point to another part of the loom causing issues?

When my lighter fell apart I just had Fernies sort it out - maybe you could call a dealer, they might put you right straight away?

Cheers

Andy

Nothing else seems to be causing a problem and I think I may have to drop by a dealer at some point if I can't find an auto electrician. I just use some things, electricity being one of them, I don't actually know how they work !

As an interesting TRV electrical quirk, my cigarette lighter used to loose power whenever I put the windscreen washers on but that has always happened and I'm pretty sure it's not the problem now.

Thanks for all the help and advice though. It's one of the great things about PH.
