Balls !! EFI fault again...

Help ...

Had the car back for less than a week and EFI fault has reappeared :0( . Garage replaced lamba sensor 2 last time.

When I started the car yesterday I think it gave a warning about the battery but not 100 % sure due to it only being on the screen for a split second... when I stopped and then restart the car 10 mins later this is when the EFI fault shown on the screen. When the call is off the battery voltage shows between 11.9 - 12.1 . When I turn the car over it normally shows 9.6, yesterday I think it showed 7.1 or 7.4.

My Questions are

1: Is the battery voltage 7.1/4 low enough to cause the car to show the EFI fault

2: any way to clear EFI fault from a MK1 Tuscan other than linking up a laptop

If the battery is the cause of the EFI fault and I replace it will I need to get logs cleared or will it clear automatically ?

Please Help ... Don't fancy making another 80 mile round trip to Racing Green.

Yes I still get diagnostic code 0 . I've always had that code since buying the car..
Garage didn't think that was a problem as everything works O.K . Only shows for a split second when the car is started.

Mine has a new battery but flashes up low battery when I turn over / start the engine. It shows about 9,6V.

I don't think it's to do with your battery, more likely a poor connection somewhere thats telling the sytem there is a communication error briefly. Could be wrong though!

Does the EFI fault clear itself ?

I get it if I start the car, drive out of the car park, stop the car, then restart within a minute or two. But it does flash up then self-clear.

EFI fault is staying on 99 % of the time !! Garage told me that if the battery drops below a certain range that this will cause the EFI to come on and stay on until it has been reset.

Is that the same for You ?

Sorry Andy, doesn't sound like the same 'quirk'. I would suspect your low voltage battery has something to do with it.

Stab in the dark but have you looked at the condition of the 100a fuse yet? Could be that there is a small crack or corroded terminals. Don't know if this could be related to the EFI fault though

No not yet would this cause the battery warning message ?

Could do, when I had mine changed as an interim precaution the car started running much better.
Another thing to check would be the earthing straps.
Both relatively straight forward, but I'd check the garage didn't look at these already to save you going over their work.

where is the 100a fuse ?? Looking at the fuse and relay panel and cannot see it ..

You'll need to take the airbox off to get to it.

Nothing wrong!! EFI fault was cleared by dealer for free..

Didn't the garage clear it last time when the lamda sensors were changed,and what about the low voltage on start up?
