Jump leads

The jump leads for the Tuscan I notice have a plug on one end, and I noticed these on Flea-bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TVR-TUSCAN-JUMP-LEADS-SAGARI... does anyone know if they are any good?...dont want to buy a load of poo and regret it!

Satman, I bought some of these leads last month,and have used them to jump start and trickle charge the battery, they are well made and work perfectly, plus delivery is quick.

I also bought a set of the leads from flea bay about a year ago and have used them regularly, and had them checked out by an auto electrician, the cables that are fitted are the same as the ones used for jumping large hgv vehicles and actually exceeded the 600 amp rating that was stated.cost a fraction of the price of tvr leads. Hope this helps.

How do you trickle charge with these leads?

I take it the leads plug in underneath the car but where do the crocks go..

Yes, i croc clipped mine to the trickle charger and this works fine, also the leads that i got are purpose made and not just a set of leads with the croc clips snipped off and an anderson connector put on.

These leads are not designed for trickle charging, purely for a high-current jump-start.

An accumate (or similar) through the cigar lighter socket is best for that.

To trickle charge the battery ensure the polarity is correct ie red to red and black to black, dont let the croc clips touch together as this will short circuit the charger and battery, for a quick charge 3 or 4 amps is ok for a few hours and for an overnight charge 1 or 2 amps, (assuming you have an ammeter like my '79 vintage charger has) probaly called fast and slow these days, Tuscan cold cranking current is less than 200 amps so the 600 amp cabling is well overated.
