New Tuscan...needs some bits and pieces...

I am the proud new owner of a 2000 Tuscan.

I got it as a good buy...enough for me to spend some money on it!!

Presently have 16 inch spiders and although nice they do look small.

I was considering some spiders but people have recopmmended the SP12's

Anyone know anywhere cheap to get these? Do 18 inch wheels degrade the drive?

Also after some Carbon Cans - they are on Ebay for £230+£8.50 packaging direct from manufacturer - is this as cheap as I'll get them? Assume that they are easy to fit youself?

Finally a decat - seen they for £150 on tvrparts - are these easy to self fit as well?

Hi da murphster,

I have done similar and got a 2000 Tuscan, October 2006 at a good price.
Spent a lot on it this year with engine rebuild etc but if you check out the picture on my profile,
you can see I changed my 16" to SP12's (prezzy of the wife). I got them from Silverstone Performance.

With the 16's, the handling was a bit scarey but when I changed the wheels, I had Gaz golds fitted and had the geometry done.
She drives fantastic now. Well worth it for the shocks and geometry.

The only thing I would say is make sure you dont need any necessary work done before you blow all your spare cash on the NICE stuff.

Suspension is also on my list...don't want to do it too quickly or will not appreciate the changes!!

Can I asked what you paid for the SP10's?

Unless you find someone selling a set second hand, then SP is the only place you'll get them AFAIK. I'm still not convinced they look right on the Tuscan tbh.

Yes.

Fitting is easy, only takes a couple of minutes. Removal of your original cans is the tricky bit...might take two minutes, or might require longer, penetrating oil, brute force and Anglo-Saxon, depending upon when they were last removed!

SP12's are the best after market I have seen so far on a Tuscan

Just seen on TVRCC that they are doing an SP12 and T1-R package for £999......damna nd blast - now I'm tempted!

I think mine cost around 1200 quid in August with F1's fitted.
The change in looks going from the old 16's for me was great.
I very much like the look of the SP12's and cant agree with UpTheIron, but then its always your own taste that counts.

The 18" spiders cant be bad. So many TVR's have them and you dont hear that many problems and of course they look great.

Ben - Nitron suspension will transform the handling of the car, and if it can be stretched to, it is recommended by most on here. Read the thread ongoing about decatting + CCC's as there are mixed views as to whether it is indeed too loud, especially if the car is being used for any journeys of reasonable length.

Suspension (and geo) is right up there on my list of 'things to do' - although I have also been recommended Gaz Gold which are significantly cheaper than Nitrons.......although I am aware of Nitrons excellent rep from my VX220 days.

Anyone aware of decent offers on these?

Are they worth twice the cost of Gaz?

My Nitrons were about £1100 for 4 with the fitting on top at TVR Power (early last year). That then included a "come back in 1000 miles and we will adjust them when they have bedded in" . I needed new shocks because two of my existing ones were leaking and these were recommended by Dom. I didn't really have time to shop around as the car was in bits at the time in the middle of a service. I certainly don't have any complaints and by all accounts the Nitron's were not that more expensive than standard.
