REPLACE ENGINE MOUNT.

Got to replace N/S front engine mount,any one done this?Any tips or help please ,or is this a garage job.Do have brain, tools & workshop.Thank you.

cant help with your engine mount but have lost ure number mate. Make sure ure cars ready for the 23rd cos ill be done in sunny essex

I took mine to Barnet for this and instead of doing the work correctly they bent the frame and plates underneath to support the engine. This shocker and more discovered after taking to an indy. Waiting for full report before contacting them and asking for money back.... Be carefull who you use if you don't do it yourself

If you have a workshop I'd say do it yourself, mine was reasonably easy to do. You need to remove the battery, engine tray, then I supported the engine with a block of wood on the trolley jack, removing the old mount can be rather fiddly and the new mount will probably need the mounting bolts chopping down to get it in place so have a decent hacksaw to hand, shouldn't take longer than a couple of hours.

Tom500 ,I would of thought it near on impossible to do this job without removing the bottom tray and any damage to the tray is probably a result of the engine dropping onto it because of failed mount and/or normal driving on this countries roads .

From experience cut the threaded studs to the same length as the ones on the mount you remove before trying to fit it and then you'll know it will go in. It's possible to get it stuck otherwise and it's like the bloody krypton factor trying to figure out how you got it in that position to start with.

Sadly not only was the tray clearly deliberately bent to support the engine, the mount wasn't even there. Clear case of cut and dry shoddy work I'm afraid.

Are you saying there was no engine mount and the tray had been bent to hold the engine in its correct place ? Sounds like a novel way to save weight but I am sure I have mis-understood.
