Problem while on Charge Need Help!!
Discussion
Hey all, im currently abroad and my mk1 tus is plugged into the wall, it has been a month since i left, i just got a call from my girlfriend saying that the lights had come on?! i asked her to start the engine, turn lights on off etc and generally try to fiddle around to sort it, which did work but a few hours later they came back on again?!?!?
Anybody got any clues, do you think i should take it off charge??

Wow, guess your car will now be known as "Christine" !
Is it the headlights that are on?
So the headlight switch on the dashpod is turned off?
If so, I've no idea, but obviously a wiring fault, probably corrosion.
If it's just the interior light, might be a sticking/loose door catch?
If you are back soon, then yes I would take it off charge, although I doubt that is the problem...actually if it is your headlights on, then I would leave it on charge unless you want a totally flat battery!

Let's take the charger out of the equation to eliminate options, is it possible that the charge point underneath could have shorted? would that cause these kind of problems? i mention this because it was serviced shortly before i left and it was pointed out that light corrosion had begun, but i said id get it done with a few other bits when i get back.
Thanks for the responses! I got the charger changed to standby rather than on and the alarm and lights have settled thankfully, quick question, how long will a battery retain charge for whilst sitting still? weeks or months? the battery is only 6 months old and the car was used regularly prior to my departure

If the alarm is set probably 2/3 weeks max, or a week or 2 longer if not. The alarms on these TVRs seem to drain more than on a Eurobox...Message Board | Tuscan | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
