A very sad day!

Today is a day of mourning for me as due to my wife expecting I have had to put my pride & joy up for sale . I have managed to cling onto him for years despite the constant grief that he's hardly ever used as I won't take him out unless sky's are blue but with a baby on way i've ran out of excuses.
I have thought about a Cerbera but the idea of a 2nd car for me has always been roof off motoring?
Can anyone think of a car that comes close to the Tuscan that could offer similar smiles per mile but with a back seat? (Must be convertible)?
I suppose alternative is to sell the wife any offers?

I sold my last Tuscan as result of my wife devloping a tummy bump (which the turned into a little boy)soldit within 2 moths of finding out aboout pregnancy.

After a month of selling I knew I had made wrong decision !

1 month before the birth of My Little Boy, I bought another Tuscan - Horray !!

Best thing is not only did I keep a tuscan - but my little Boy loves it !!! Even at 1 and half, he insists on sitting in while I take it out the garage.

If you can try try try to keep it !!

Ageed, keep it. Im on my second child, two boys 4year old loves it and my one year old points to it and mutters "daddy blue car" everytime it appears from the garage.
It also makes for great weekends off when its just the two of you (well just you really but you have to bring her with you)

Keep it for sure, BUT it might be better for the car if it is used. Dont take this the wrong way, but let somebody have it that is going to use it and enjoy it, they hate being stuck in a garage. All the best in the future Gordon....................

Sadly this is the way I am looking at it. I work away Mon-Fri & have access to my daughter one of the days at weekend so that only leaves 1 day to spend quality time with the Mrs so I suppose she does have a point. A bad one but a point none the less.

I have a company car as I cover lots of miles with my work therefore fuel allowance would kill me if I used it for work.

Lovely car - sounded awesome at F.T. - are you sure it's not worth keeping for the odd occasion like that alone?!?

I've had similar thoughts (well, SWMBO has...), but a quick drive and fondle clean... I mean for Gods sake - just look at it!!!

Give it a couple of years and you won't be able to own such a piece of automotive history / gorgeousness...think emissions / speed limiters / scameras / black boxes / climate change / [insert government bollox here]...

Sell a kidney if you have to but DON'T DO IT MAN!!!

a real dilemma. my wife gave birth to my baby daughter 3 weeks ago. i purchased my 's' in august,i just had to have one for those sunny (and not so sunny) days. i've already had her out in it for a run and an instant hit, immediately went to sleep. i also have a co. car hence the absolute need to have my toy, that's the car and not the baby. if you can, you have to hold on to it for all the reasons stated previous. good luck

I sold my beloved Tuscan 3 months before our little boy was born.

Frankly, I don't know where you guys find the time to enjoy a Tuscan when you have got a baby to look after!

To be honest, there are only very very few occasions when I miss the Tuscan, and if I still had it, I would not take the child out in it. I know that it is probably not justifiable to say this, but I just do not rate a TVR as being protective enough for my son's life. I suppose it has been OK for my life and my wife's, but I could not live with myself if we had an incident and he got hurt after his dad decided to carry him around in something so exotic. In my mind, if the car does not have Isofix fittings, then it is not a car that I would my child going in, Cerbera included. I am not refering to the safety of the car's body shell per se, but taking all things into account.

My view was to sell up and spend time with the little 'un. If the time comes and the urge bites, then I can always get another sporty model in a couple of years time. It is just a different phase of life I am in now and the car seems less important.

In a few years you won't be allowed to own such a car!

The costs will be ridiculous, as everything over 1.4 that drinks more than a thimblefull of corn-oil (to meet ever-tightening emissions regs) will be effectively taxed into the stratosphere.

Throw in pay-as-you-drive, black-boxes to limit speed to a snails pace, worsening congestion and road conditions, ever-lower speed limits and Ken Livingscum and the future for enjoying oneself on the open road is indeed bleak.

Damn...gone and depressed myself now!

Thank goodness we are able to make a free choice still!

I loved my Tuscan and Chimaera before that, but have moved on.

I still enjoy a 3.5 V6 and 272 bhp every day though, so life is not all bad when having kids. I just have 4 doors, rear seats, a smooth ride, and almost every conceivable gadget to hand and predictable service costs (but terrible fuel econony - worse than my Tuscan!!).

if it's any consolation, you could look at this way... given that there are only a finite number of TVR's out there, you selling your car allows someone else to enter the world of TVR for the first time (like me, purchase imminent)

Small consolation but I guarantee i'll be back in fact i'll be keeping my eye on where he goes with a view to getting him back in the future when finances & circumstances allow.

He's gone he got picked up last night at least I know he's gone to a good home & we have a new Pher into the bargain. He's promised to look after him & hopefully one day i'll be in a position to buy him back.
