Security for your Tuscan

Hello all,
I am about to take delivery of my very first TVR and that being a Tuscan very soon. My question is about security.

After seeing how easy it would be to ‘pop’ the rear screen from its fixing points I am keen to fit some high viz either steering lock, wheel clamp or gear stick to handbrake deterrent to ward off grubs from taking my soon to be pride and joy.

I am interested to hear what you lads use as an extra to the alarm. I have off street parking but not secure (no gates) & the car has been fitted with a tracking devise, but I don’t want it to get to the point where I have to use that.

Any suggestions will be most welcomed.

Hi

I've had a secondary immobiliser fitted. Basically on your keyfob you carry a small "transmitter" and hidden away anywhere in your tuscan there is a tiny receiver aerial. The "transmitter" has to be placed within a couple of mm (i.e. very close) of the aerial. If not, you can try and start the car all you want but it wont power anything.

So if anyone manages to clone / steal my keys then without this they just will not be able to steal my car. Even if they got the "transmitter" it would take far too long for them to run it over every surface inside the tuscan to deactivate it - even if they did know what is was.

They may get in but the car ain't movin

get a security post for your drive?

wire a switch into the ignition / fuel pump or take a fuse out... it wont be going any where.

at the end of the day i guess TVRs only get stolen for order, as they are too complicated to get in to / start for the average scrote. and i'm sure they wouldn't get very far before finding a hedge!

.....scrote! That word just doesn’t get used enough. LOL

Me thinks I will go with the wheel clamp, if they get that off I can at least use it on the next car. I like philmcw idea of the second immobiliser. I will hook that up to the fuel pump, no fuel no go.

I can't get the fecking thing to demobilise most of the time anyway!! Maybe newer Tuscans have a better system..

There is one secret position one can stand in and press the key fob and the car comes to life but that's so secret I only tell myself every now and then...no wonder my missus thinks TVRs are a bit unnecessarily difficult!!

I thought that was just mine.
Have you tried the "leaning against the car with left hand and right leg in the air" position. That works just fine, sometimes.

PS Mine has a Scorpion fitted.

Yup
I have the same prob with my Tuscan. Immobilising it takes unlock, lock, press button hope for the best, turn key and then lots of noise. ACE. Has its own personality.

Secondary immobilisers sounds good tho.

Who would steal a Tuscan?
Most owners cant start them.......

Seriously, without the key they are never gonna get past the immobiliser. Has anyone actually heard of one being stolen? In the summer i leave mine parked with the roof off. No worries at all. Most times i come back to find some onlookers trying to work out where the door handles are........

Awesome. Think I might borrow my Aunts Boxer dogs. Although as u say it is hard enough to try and start my car enough never mind steal it without the keys
