Dipstick...is mine different?

Just checked my oil but I have no min mark?!

My 'dipper' has a screw thread at the end and just prior to the screw thread (not threaded bit) is written hand engraved "max"

Will top up to max anyway (from what I gather too much is OK)

If mine is different what is the normal difference between max and min (in mm)

Sounds the same as mine.
And the good Lord said check your Speed Six oil very regularly and keep it full + a bit.

I think the leven dip sticks have no min mark, but the Original TVR one's are the picture posted by nelly1 (they have both min and max)

mine has the screw thread dipstick as well, I reckon there is a good 1 litre between min and max, but I've not had to top up much on the new engine yet.

Bloody 'ell Ben!! Well done mate and welcome to TVR ownership!! So how have you found the step up to the Tuscan over the VX??

Put the 10th Aug in your diary too, I'm doing another supercar drag racing event at Wattisham so you're more than welcome - the Tuscans did very well last year, on par with the Cerberas.

what marks the min on yours?

Mine points to max at the top of the screw thread but theres nothing for min.

Pictures useful as could measure it off.

Prob with the screw thread dipper is that the oil does not stick to the smooth bit so you don't know if your overdoing the oil or its just enough.

Howdy Windsor - Yep took a very impulsive step towards Tuscan. Good so far but need a trackday to "feel" the Tuscan - still worryied its going to throw me off the road at any moment!!

I've checked mine today and its the screw thread type. I never realised there were differnt style dipsticks, or that mine dosn't have a min mark.
The max is clearly pointing at the top of the thread so i aim for that.
However, having had mine 4 years now i've got used to the fact that she doesn't actually use any oil, so i dont worry about it, and dont check it all that often........

on my screw thread I've always thought minimum was the bottom of the thread!!

Dry sumped so a long as it's showing on the dipstick it's not going to matter too much and although a little tricky to get a good reading on the screw thread a couple of dips straight after the hot engine is turned off you will get a good idea.

No min or max on mine, just a couple of holes punched in the stick. Not sure if this is an original or after market product. Link to pic of mine below.

Will just measure off the correct dist to know where my min is.

Stiff fustrating that on the screw thread type above max you cannot see if the oil is there - can be wasting precious Mobile 1!
