Paint Code - Dealer no help!!!!

I asked the dealer if he could help me identify the colour code and he replied he can't find it other than telling me the colour of the car. Great help.
How easy is it for a spray centre (of whatever there are called) to match the colour. Any one had experience of this?

Isnt the paint code on the ID plate in the boot?

Well there is a number, sorry is that what the code of paint is?
I thought this was a build number for factory reference????

On the id plate there should be BODY CODE. Thats the TVR reference, email gerbil with it and he will give you the correct ICI/whatever code or just buy the paint from him.

it may also be listed in your handbook.
