Tuscan Roof Trim coming unstuck!

Hello,

I noticed that the bits of body coloured trim at the edges of my roof (directly over the side windows) is starting to come unstuck, dont really want to loose one whilst going down the motorway, so whats the best stuff to stick em back on with?

I was thinking no-more-nails, I have had a great deal of sucess re-sticking interior trim with this when all else failed. not so sure about outside bits!

Lost mine 2 years ago on the motorway, had to buy a new roof as no one can source the part. Would suggest getting it fixed ASAP, not sure what is best though.

If they're to be glued on, I'd have thought something like Sikaflex would be best (material compatibility depending, of course). I used this stuff to fit parts of a bodykit years ago, and it clings good and proper.

I used araldite on mine about a year ago and it's been ok since.

'no more nails' will crystallize with heat and UV. You are best sticking with a polyurethane based snot which is UV balanced. Be patient and wait for it to go off. Is the trim the two small strips that cover the join at shoulder height behind you?

erm, not sure if we are talking about the same bits of trim (they are two large-ish strips, one either side of the roof panel that run from front to back, that cover the little "sockets" that are used to secure the roof using the handles in the boot. that probably makes no sense.

is "sikaflex" that black gummy stuff? seen it on lots of cars I have owned and it sometimes "breaks down" and melts a bit in extreme heat on older cars (late 80's early 90's) ?

Yep, thats the stuff. It has come a long way from the tar based sealer of yesteryear. You have the choice of cleaning up any excess with thinners & a rag or just wait til it is 80 - 90% dry and just use the old fingernail. Best to not use a lot I suppose, a little goes a long way when its squished.
