Looking at mounting mobile and/or gps.
Don't want something unsightly or that damages the car.

Anyone got any ingenious ideas?

I need to be able to see/operate the mobile/gps.....

Might just try a sucker for now but was considering this.....

but not sure if its 'man enough' to cling on round corners!

For the GPS, change your car stereo to something with a built in GPS. I changed mine to a Pioneer one a couple of years ago.

Just an idea.

I have an O2 XDA Exec (HTC Universal) - quite a heavy device at about 285g. Bought a windscreen mount from PDA Mods has never let me down yet.

I've got a Garmin Nuvi which is on a window suction mount.
I have to wet it to make it stay on but then it its fine.

I had a sit in the car this morning thinking about windscreen mounts (I really must get out more...)

Do they not get in the way - not easy to see over the bonnet as it is.

Just ordered one of these - if its tripe will flog it on ebay.

I was thinking that I could fix/glue a bracket into the bottom of the cubby hole so that the phone could sit just left of the steering wheel but the mount could easily be fully removed....

Its uber cheap....which makes me think its going to be naff but worth a punt - be good if the mic could make the gps heard over the engine. I'm holding S6PNJ totally accountable if its rubbish!

Just for info these are the mounts that people get excited about.....

Da Murphster, I'm not sure about the mic thingy - mine doesn't have one, but the speaker is ok (if a little tinny) - you'll need to plug the supplied cable from your headphone output to the holder input (well you do on mine).

The kit comes with a flat plastic 'plate' which you can velcro/glue onto your car somewhere and then use the suction mount to stick there (instead of on the windscreen). Dunno how well it will hold it with velco though, might need something more solid or substantial. There's no where in my Tusc that I can use it so haven't.

I don't go much on the vent mount (utterly useless) but the rest should be ok. Hope you get on well with it. Oh yes, almost forgot! My suction mount broke (plastic came away), I contacted PDAMODS and they exchanged my unit no questions asked! Got to be a result there!!
