Hi,

Quick question. How do you get the gear knob off? I'm going to change my tatty gaitors, but can't see how to get this off. There is a collet just below the knob. Does this need to unscrew?

Cheers!

Yes, the collar under the knob unscrews and then you can unscrew the knob. It's a locknut type arrangement.

Hi mate,

I was going to tackle this myself, (New handbrake and gearstick gaitors) but boy am I glad I didn't. My car was at Power having a few things done, so I thought I would take the opportunity whilst picking the car up to ask the mechanic working on my car to bung them on for me. Do you realise you have to take the whole centre console off,(I didn't) and then the carpeted section the gaitors come through turn upside down, pull off gaitors which are glued underneath, then reverse process to attach new ones. Whilst this is not a complicated job it was far more than I anticipated, with my meagre mechanical skills. thumbup

Removal of centre console is 2x hex bolts, one under ash tray, one under rear vent.
