Trackday with my Tuscan
Discussion
Going to take my Tuscan on a trackday this year.
I have done trackdays before but with my previous TVR (chimp) but never my Tuscan.
My question is this...
I have the original wheels with good tyres on sitting in my garage as my Tuscan is on anthresite spiders, I know tyres take a pounding so would i be better off putting the originals on or will this reduce the performance?
Any advise greatly recieved
Thanks
Sam

assuming you mean you had 16 inch spiders originally and now have 18 inch spiders?
Unless your 'normal' wheels/tyres are going to be a big improvement on the track (lighter etc) its an ideal time to get your moneys worth out of older tyres - then possibly consider getting track specific tyres put on older wheels....
Prolly what I'm going to do...unless someone offers me a decent amount for my old spiders...

Depending on whether or not you are trying to set new world lap records then i wouldn't have thought it would make much difference which set of tyres you have on. Clearly the tyres will suffer a lot of wear on a track day so i would be tempted to put the old tyres back on. Also, of course, if you have an 'off' or kerb her, you wont mind so much with the old wheels.
The thing that really makes a difference with track days is having adjustable suspension. I have Nitrons fitted on mine and the car felt truly planted last time i was at Snetterton.
HTH.

I think the lowest is Bedford at 95db and they generally go up to 105db at some tracks.
Standard cans on mine originally meant 98db - so I got a set of ACT ones to take it down to 93db.
It's now been de-catted so with the track cans on it (just) passes at Bedford.
Saying that though with Carbon Cans on now it runns at 107-108bd..... Mmmmm noise
