Is it just me or are the standard brakes on the mk1 4.0 not really that good? Or are they just designed for real men with a strong right foot?? At least they don't lock up that easily.....
They need a bit more pedal pressure than the over-servo'd cars most of us drive daily, but they certainly work. I love the brakes on mine.Cheers,
FT.

Mine are the same. I always feel that I am not looking forward to the day I will realy need them. Maybe I need to do some test braking to get to know them. While on brakes, I had an occasion in 2006 in my Chimaera to be on the A7 in Germany. I was passing an Audi A8, clock reading 155mph when I spotted a Police car on the hard shoulder. straight after saw that all traffic was stopped ahead. After some fairly heavy breaking, I was slowed enough to manouver to an exit so avoiding the delay. Next day my breaks felt very bad.
The German Mechanic told me the front offside hadnt worked for ages and the front nearside disk was cracked.

Have you ever heard of retro-active brown pants.

Might not be that easy, if you have the early caliper (allen bolt holds the pads in) then it's on it's limit at 304mm I think. You'd need the S / cerbera 4.5 caliper to go to 322mm
I have the eary caliper then I think as the allen bolt holds the pad.Looking on the AP web site though on the brake specs page, they say the caliper will take upto a 330mm disc?? Well thats for the cp5200 caliper which I though I had. Sure they are the same caliper on the eary RR cars and on all the cerbs I have looked at.

I found the standard TVR compound pads lacked bite and felt a bit wooden. The DS2500s I have fitted now are much better.

If your pockets are bulging you may want to consider these lovelies.....I seriously am, just need to get over my current rebuild expense first.

They my be six pot calipers but replacing an AP with Hispec can only be a downgrade .
For those people who feel their brake pedal is to hard you can quite easily change the mechanical advantage by relocating the pushrod on the pedal itself . There is a choice of location holes on it and the linkage behind the cover , David

Mine has gone rather soft Dave, so I'm going to bleed them first but still fancy bigger discs for looks more than anything. For those people who feel their brake pedal is to hard you can quite easily change the mechanical advantage by relocating the pushrod on the pedal itself . Is that an assupmtion regarding the HiSpec 6 pots is it known fact they would be a downgrade from the AP brakes that are on some TVR's? Additionally have you experienced these 6 pots on your car or cars? For those people who feel their brake pedal is to hard you can quite easily change the mechanical advantage by relocating the pushrod on the pedal itself . APs together with Brembo and Alcan are probably the best calipers you can Buy . Hispec are aimed at the maxpower brigade , if you want to find out about the quality of a product you will have to go to a form where people are allowed to express negative views ( seloc? )
What i required was not views what i wanted was fact or experience from someone who has used the HiSpek braking systems as there seems very few on this forum if any. Having just spoken to Radical Sportscars in depth about HiSpek braking systems & they come highly recommend including performance, quality & value as they are used on there race & track cars throughout there range including the car that smashed the Ring record recently & they also stated a 6 pot system on a TVR especially with them being fairly lightweight in comparison to most cars would be extremely good especially on track days etc with huge gains in braking capabilities. they also said they are comparible to any other braking systems available including others they have used in the past, we'll see. Anyway i have bought 2 sets one for a Tuscan & one for a Sagaris, once installed shortly i will let you know or anyone what they are like & if they can be recommended for TVR's...Cheers
Shaun
