MK2 Oil change Help

Does anyone know if there is a different procedure to changing the oil on a MK2to a MK1. My independant dealer was told by a main dealer that there is a certain procedure on MK2's that if not followed would kill the engine,however he would not share this information.
I suspect this is BS any he is trying to scare everyone into using an ex main dealer.
Has anyone been to an independant or changed the oil themselves on a MK2

Lee,I've never heard that one. I know there are two drain plugs that need to be removed to get as much oil out as possible. It has been stated before you can never get all the 11 litres (1st fill) out, my manual says 8 litres on subsequent changes, but we measured the amount we put in last time at about 9 litres. Some disconnect all the oil pipes to get a bit more out, but I've heard it argued that repeated disconnection could cause leaks. I've put those magnet straps on my oil filter (same idea as a magnetic sump plug), need to slice the old oil filter next time and see if it's picked anything up.

After much trawling through forums I decided to let my independant do the oil change. I was there when he started the car the oil pressure rose immediatly and has been completly normal ever since.
So was I lucky? Is there a difference between MK1 And MK2 dry sump system or are former main dealer trying to mantain they grip on servicing with scare stories.
Any main dealer or expert willing to clarify? I for one will be using trusted independants. So lets hope I wasn't lucky and changing the oil is still a straight forward job.

Lee, I watched Heath Briggs Ex-TVR Service Manager do mine on Tuesday, besides getting covered in oil , he didn't do anything special. The Mk2 is wonderful how the oil tank drain plug is right in front of a chassis member, so the pressure from the head of oil means it stream of oil hits the chassis and goes everywhere. We put just 8 litres in this time.
PS. My "shunting" seems far less since its service, I just delberately drove in 4th at 25-30mph through a village, didn't detect any "shunting" at all... may be its not the diff but the engine pick-up.. happy bunny now
