windscreen washer not working

the stalk operates the wiper but not the washer can anyone please tell me where is the washer motor and how to get to it or suggest what else might cause the problem. Thanks smithy.e

If you open the service bonnet, you will see the washer bottle at the front, near-side of the car - the filler cap anyway. You need to take the main bonnet off to get at the pump which is fitted to the bottle (I think). If you just have the electrics enabled and pull the stalk, listen out for the pump whirring - if it doesn't then you might have a fuse gone or a problem with the wiring or pump.

Mine did that too.

YOu can slide the washer bottle out past the headlights its on a bracket in the inner wing. The the motor pump unit pulls off the bottle. Mine I opened up to find the motor was rust and full of water, think overfillign the bottle when I first got the car (thought was bigger than 1 ltr) had got into the motor housing. Anyway dried it out and cleaned it up, all worked again after. Just make sure you get the flat part of the motor output shaft on the right part of the impellor. Mine was not first time and the water took ages to come through.

I have already had the main bonnet off and checked the fuses. al when you say past the headlights do you mean out by the front wheel under the wheel arch or does the main bonet or the service bonnet need to come off.

The washer pipe can also come off under the scuttle panel, a small tie wrap keeps them in place.

Just check that pipe hasent got to close to exhaust heat and shrunk the pipe or melted it. !

My washer tubes keep melting due to the heat coming up from under the bonnet. I have had it fixed 4 times and it has happend again!

I did look at the pipes and connections, I can't hear the washer motor running. 'tuscan al' suggestion seems the most likely I hoping he will get back to me in more detail about removing the motor.

Problem sorted was the rusty washer motor cleaned it put back fine.
