0-60 times and perfect launch?

Hi folks,

Just reading over on the Chim forum about people trying to achieve the 0-60 times stated in various literature and it made me think about our Tuscans...

What's the best takeoff procedure people have found? Basically, where do you keep the revs on launch and what's the best RPM to change gear? It'd be interesting to hear from some S owners with CR gearboxes.

How accurate are the printed figures for the standard and S Tuscans? Obviously it depends on tyres, competence of driver, condition of road and BHP output of each individual car which I know can vary quite widely.

Any views on this?

3000 RPM drop the clutch, up to 60 in first PDQ. 2006 Tuscan S with CR box and 3.73 diff.

Hmmm... need to find an airstrip to practice on! My launch at the moment is terrible... I sort of trundle off for a bit before putting my foot down and smoothly increasing power. Guess in the back of my mind I think I'm gonna spin or something!

but in my own one, whenever i've tried to give it the full beans in 1st i get massive rear axle tramp & sit there bouncing up & down before it hooks up.

i reckon starting in 2nd gear would give you quicker times.

but in all honesty its better not to do it at all!

When I bought this one from Barnet, Giles took me out in it first. He said "and it can do this, watch!" and just floored it from standstill. Within a blink we were over a hundred and clutch smelt like it would have to be replaced on return to the garage. Since then I tend to floor it after easing in a bit of motion first as the smell still haunts me! Brilliantly quick, no idea the times but will happily give feedback from someonelses S if they want to lend it!
