! Warning EFI ! Buzz bloody buzz!!!!!
Discussion
Ok, so I take my car out on saturday have a great hoon from peterborough to silverstone race circuit (not to a track day i must add!!) but to a ball that I attended that evening, anyway parked car there overnight first time I have ever left it outside overnight, I started it up and fine no problem started to drive it less than 100 yards and boom ! Warning EFI Fault !, all sounded ok no drop or increases in temps etc, sounded fine, drove fine and felt fine but just this bloody buzzing noise.
I spoke to Paul at PPC today and he has said that usually if left outside water can get into car engine etc and cause this or it could be lamba sensors (Or something!) however not to worry if all sounds / drives ok. I am dropping car off to him in the next couple of days to complete a few bits well quite a lot of bits but it is a TVR remember so he can clear it then,
now my questions are:
has anyone else had this is it really nothing worry about or should I be panicking!
Can I stop the buzzing noise or clear the fault myself with the aid of Laptop etc
is there anything I can do to the car (not really technical) to help clear this or assist in helping this
All advice comments well appreciated
Cheers

This sort of happend to me last week( read PIXIE~~~~~ DIED, on tuscan station), then on saturday I had the EFI thing , but everything was ok, I think it was because I had got her wet, and had an empty tank, been told to keep an eye on things, but not to worry as TVRs are STRANGE,,(well I say so)
once my efi came on I drove back home to pboro from silverstone and again it felt drove etc fine, however it stayed on throughout the whole journey but having said that have not tried to see if it is on today.
so am i right in saying cause mine stayed on instead of going off etc it could be bad news????

I sometimes have efi warnings when it's wet, and almost always when going through a puddle (front near side). So far they have never been "real" and tend to go away on their own. I do however, sometimes get other warnings "stuck" on the screen - No oil pressure, door open, no voltage, low fuel. All have proved to be wrong and all go away, not with a push on the knob, but with a single click left or right.
Spooky...... Still alive to her trying to trick me by blowing up when I think the warning is not real !

Hi Sicob,
Yes but is it still on now or did it go off? mine was on for a long journey home and was still coming on last night when I started her up!
Mine goes on stays on a short while then off. It hasn't come on since. Not sure what's best if it stays on, maybe have it looked at?Yes but is it still on now or did it go off? mine was on for a long journey home and was still coming on last night when I started her up!

Ditto that, get it looked at asap. If it's a persistent error then there is a problem with one of the sensors feeding back info to the ECU or possibly something else more serious. As a rule of thumb, I reckon if the EFI warning doesn't disappear after a couple of resets and a few miles driving (in case it was moisture causing it) then there is something that needs looking at.
Just my tuppence...

It could be a lot of things, but i doubt its actually a genuine problem with the car.
Does the right hand knob scroll the pod screens ok? Coz there is an 8 core ribbon cable that connects from this knob to the main PCB behind the pod. In the past my ribbon cable got snagged (when i was trying to change the pod screen!) and was shorting out. This caused all kinds of malfunctions with the knob itself.
I had to strip the pod down and get the ribbon cable re-soldered.
Anyhow, good luck with it.....
