Picked up my Tuscan on Saturday
Discussion
Hi everyone,
Just a quick note to say hi. I've been searching for my Tuscan for a few months now and finally found the right one and picked him up on Saturday - WOW!
As days go this has to be near the very top (wedding and birth of my baby boy just pip it!) Beautiful sunny day, roof off, screen out and the noise from the sports cans was incredible!
I 'll post pics shortly but I spent all day Saturday driving so didn't have time for cleaning and taking pics
A few quick questions I'd be grateful if somebody can help me with. I have a trickle charger but not one with a Tuscan adapter/connector, where can I buy the right connector? And should I always try and plug it in when I'm not using the car? I've seen some cars with a trickle charger socket in boot, is this something that's easy to get fitted?
Also, any advice on where to get jump leads from (just in case)
Thanks

Hi there - Yes, me too (Picked up my Tuscan) on Saturday from Fernies. Car is spectacular. Great to get all the thumbs-up from bikers, smiles from everyone (even in London) and it sounds Epic.
of course the pod packed up 3 miles out of the dealer on my way home but has since come back to life ! Good job as I had no idea that I had another 2000 rpm available without a rev-counter - Speed six feels/sounds fantastic.
My mate reckons its at least as quick as his £75k 911 Carrera S, but he did comment on how I was sawing at the wheel at 100+ !. I've already booked it in for a full alignment/geometry but think I'll be buying some new shocks (Gaz/Nitrons) pretty soon ! She's also got a big thing for cambers !
I'll put some photos up as soon as my ISP gets my url working... Look forward to seeing you car
Now we just need some more SUN !!
Jonathan.
Cheers

Hey Jon! Congratulations to you too!
Best thing to do is take it for a drive around the West End on a Saturday night - reactions from the tourists are priceless!
Most of them have never seen one before and will follow you down the street to try and get a pic!
Enjoy and take it easy in the wet!

Thanks for the replies. I'll take a look at the link you posted there Custardkid, thanks
Congrats on your purchase Jono! Where are you getting the alignment/balancing done and how much is it? I need to get mine done before Le Mans!
Also looking to upgrade the shocks but think I'll do 1 or 2 track days with the standard shocks so I can feel where my money's been spent when I get the new ones!

Hi - many thanks - I live in Fulham and am just going to a local dealer that does 4 wheel/laser alignment. Everyone tells me that if you want a really top job, to go to Topcats or centregravity (just google them for the URL).
Once I get back from France, I'm thinking of changing the shocks for Nitrons/Gaz Gold (and probably have it done at one of the aforementioned shops). Everyone tells me that the regular TVR shocks are a bit pants apparently.... The Front end definitely doesn't feel very tied down at speed !
Have to saw that even around the Kings Road where everyone's pretty blase about motors, the Tuskie still gets loads of attention - bloke behind me in a 360 Modena didn't even get a glance the other day !. I am going to be getting a left leg considerably bigger than my right though based on the clutch - I'm already looking around at some of the other clutches on PH as I don't think that mine is going to last terribly long in London as it is !!
Cheers

Heartly recommend them!
Hi SRZed - I just had the alignment done today - Front right camber was well out and they adjusted pretty much every corner. Before and after printout was interesting. Car felt nice on the (very) short ride home, so guess we'll find out what its really like when tanking along on Thursday.
It cost me £80 from a regular place in wandsworth (5 mins from my house which was handy) but I would expect to pay double that from a specialist shop (FYI - local Porsche independent wanted £150 plus VAT).
So we'll see what it feels like at high speed, but I'm sure it will be better ! Interested to hear what they recommend on your car and with a full 4-wheel laser alignment they should also give you a before and after printout so that you can see what changes have been made (and hopefully things will be back into the factory settings).
Cheers

Hi Justin - FYI - already checked out your Tuscan site - very very useful ! When are we going to get the 'contributions needed' bits completed ?! Even after Fernies showed me how to get the front bonnet opened, I'm still not sure how to undo the side catches !! Where's the TVR manual ?!
Seriously though, I'm sure if we put some of the open questions to a dealer (Brian at Fernies is brilliant for example) we should get those topics completed.
