TUSCAN S VS PORSCHE TURBO

Should my 53 tuscan S be able to kick ass on a 911 turbo 07 plate ?

I've seen various time for 997TT on the 0-60, ranging from 3.7s to 3.9s (I think due to testers and the difference between Tip and manual). 0-100 is sub-9s. I wouldn't like to call it!

If you're thinking of finding out for real, pick a dry day given the 997TT has 4WD!

performance wise depends

around the twistys all on driver skill close match
straight line drag you will/should be good ,if it sits down and (as long as its running well)

just remember when you go home there's always something out there thats faster ,but nothing out there that'll give you a bigger smile than a tvr.

Sorry to disagree, but the Porsche is one of the best handling cars in the world, and the Tuscan is good but not great.
You may find that if you come across a Turbo on country roads you will keep up and probably pass, but that is more to do with the other drivers skills. Theres alot of porsches out there with guys that like the car but will never use it as it was designed. If you have the money you tend to opt for the safe german bet.
With the TVR's there tends to be a lot more owners that have come up through the speed ranks and have learnt to drive in cars that could kill you at any given moment. We tend to know the limits and drive with respect at all times (there are exceptions).
In regards to acceleration, its down to the car. My old Tuscan was quicker to 150 than my 993 twin turbo. Even better, was the fact the Porsche is a modified rear wheel drive with a few mods, so quicker than the standard 4 wheel drive.
But its true, it dosn't matter which is quickest, I'd take the Tuscan out for fun and impact anytime over the Porsche.

I can vouch for a 996TT being pretty immense in the twisties, having gone round a hairpin on the way to Spa in friend's one a while back at speed that should have been impossible.....

As mentioned though, despite all the 'technical ability' of the car, my T2 feels more special and more of an event to me when just parked in the garage. Not knocking the 996TT, it's a great car, it just doesn't butter my bread whereas the Tiv does.

I had a 996TT before the Tuscan. In my opinion the Tuscan is quicker (feels quicker) up to about 80mph. My 996TT seemed quicker over 100ish and pulled like a train from there upwards and definately quicker than my Tuscan. The Porsche was much more stable at high speeds and required hardly any concentration or skill unlike the Tuscan which gives you white knuckles at speed. Around the twisties I would feel more confident in the Turbo and it felt more planted and easier to drive so I would say you could push it harder and therefore be quicker. The Tuscan is more fun though!!

I would say a 997TT would be even better than the 996 and quicker than a Tuscan.

All in my opinion though.

Porsche any day, with most drivers at the helm. A TVR is more special and much more fun though, but if you need to cross country quickly a TVR isn't the tool of choice.

Against a 997 turbo i would think not much in it up to 100, after that the Tuscan would not hang on to it,the higher the speed the bigger the gap i'm afraid [imho]
