Is my "scuttle" melting?

I think its called a scuttle anyway... the bit below the windscreen that tucks under the top edge of the bonnet.

It obviously gets pretty toasty as lots of heat from the engine bay escapes past it. it seems to be sagging a bit, the paint is starting to develop some very fine cracks too which I suppose is to be expected.

Nimbus motorsports (google search them) do a fibrous based heat shield. Remove the "scuttle" and bond the heat shield material (aluminium foil side showing) to the underside of the scuttle. This will stop your problem..... did with mine. Nimbus also do an embosed aluminium sheet, similar to that which was factory fitted to the later S6 chassis' in the region of the cats and nearside engine mount. But retro fitting this is really an engine out job, however certainly worth doing if the engine is ever out. It protects the chassis rails from burning, the engine mount from perishing and the battery from excessive heat.
