Heavy use

Does anyone here stick serious miles on their Tuscan on a regular basis? I might need to reduce my stable to pay for other things, and whilst I've got a diesel sh**ter that I use currently to do the work run, the Tusc may need me to spend some money to get out of it (potentially equivalent to what the sh**ter's worth).

My weekly commute comes to about 800 miles, without personal mileage. Running costs aside, does anyone have any experiences of pushing a Tusc that far that often? Mine's an '05 T2.

Not quite the reply you’re looking for but I cover a good 890 miles a week going to work. I don't normally use my Tuscan for the commute but have previously used it for a week or two constantly with no problems.

If anything I found it ran better as it's not being left in the garage for a week and then used. One of the guys in my area of the TVR club has a Tuscan that he uses daily for work and has very little problems although I don't think he does huge miles.

I think lowest on here puts on some substantial miles on his Tuscan Mk 2, and plenty on the track to boot. I put on app 10k in the first yr of ownership, which is still a long way short of the potential 30k + miles you are discussing - 10k was no issue, and ignoring the early issues with rebuilds etc (not related to the mileage), it was never an issue doing that mileage.

I use my Tuscan as an every day to around 12k per year.
This includes 2 round trips per year to Germany and a summer trip to France.
I have always been of the opinion that daily use is beneficial.

Cheers folks. I've always been of the opinion that regular use is good, it's certainly the advice I give to people who ask me; consequently I've been annoyed by the fact that it's been left it sitting still recently, and the weekends are so busy it's easier to jump in the Mondeo which lives outside.

But given the wonga it costs to keep it, I was thinking I might as well get some use out of it and for a good while yet the only way to do that will be the daily commute. Might not come to pass, but we'll see.....

Out of interest, what would you rather see.....a low mileage Tuscan or a high mileage one? One plus point of mine for me when considering it was that it had 6000 miles more than another one I saw around the same age. Proved to me it had been used and (potentially) hadn't been problematic.

Up until recently I used to put 450 miles per week on my 51 plate Tuscan, now on just under 50k miles - no issues whatsoever (apart from lots of fuel bills etc). I ran 450 miles per week for about 1.5 years!!! I only had a couple of issues over that time - a new clutch ( don't they all need one???) and a problem with the fuel pump relay (£10 I think??). Now I can cycle to work so the miles are few and far between but I think I'll have more issues because of it. Cars need to be driven, especially TVRs, else you are bound to have problems.
