Tuscan dash aluminium hot to touch

Hi all, might be nothing but perhaps you can reassure me. Two of my passengers recently commented how hot the aluminium dash gets on the passenger side of my 2000 Mk1 Tuscan, it's as hot as a radiator. I know the heater radiator and all the workings are behind the passenger side dash, just wondered if everyone else's got really hot too?

dunno nevered noticed/checked that! I guess it would get hot as it's directly behind the exhaust headers and cats. Do you mean the long metal bar bit that runs behind the dash tray? I've never had a passenger mention that, and it's certainly been full of stuff on a long journey.

if you see this photo you can see where the exhaust is, maybe you are lacking some heatshielding/there is a hole letting heat through/or maybe a blocked cat causing a bit much heat?

Could be heat shield, but also iirc there is a heat sink fitted to the gear stick connector as a revision by TVR, maybe you havent got this and heat is sinking from the gearbox up to the all memeber. A few tvr's I test drove seemed to have this proble, esp this time of year.

yes the long aluminium strip that runs from left to right across the width of the car, its cool on the drivers side and seems very hot on the passenger side

If you stamp on the power peddle when they reach forward that will stop them.
