Tuscan verses Chimaera

I've been a 4.0L Chim owner for nearly 5 years now (previously had a 350i wedge). Now I seriously thinking about the next step......the Tuscan.
Any do's & don't, should & should nots, my top dollar is probably around £15k & service/parts bills around £1000 per annum. Am I being ambitious or does that cover a well sorted Tuscan being kept up to spec ?

I changed from my Chimaera to my Tuscan just over 2 years ago.
I missed, and still do miss the V8 engine but that is not to say I dont like the SP6.
But be careful.
I made no effort, enquiries and sent someone else to check out a lower price Tuscan and payed the penalty.
It has cost me quite a lot over the first 16 months to get her sorted.
Love the car regardless of the repairs.

I went from Griff 500 to a Tuscan and although I miss the deep throaty burble of the V8 the speed six is so lively and agile it is a different beast altogether. Couple that with the looks of the Tuscan and the Tuscan wins the day.
Do your research (I didn't and paid the price) there are some good ones out there.

I still miss the V8 noise and torque of my Chim 500, even after 8 years. I suppose also the easier about town driving due to the better steering lock, and being able to open the bonnet.
I also miss not feeling paranoid about an imminent engine explosion.
Otherwise the Tuscan wins big time!

i had a 99 BLACK 40 litre Chim and changed last yr for a 2001 tuscan that was 15k.
I made sure i had a warranty to cover any major repairs that might pop up...
I ended up using the warranty and spending 1000 on some other jobs that needed doing... i have no regrets and the extra power and speed is worth the upgrade..

I run both a cheap 400 chimp and a cheap Tuscan on a daily basis. I only do short trips, running into town and shopping etc. I only lean on the loud pedal when the engines are warm though.
They both have merits. I prefer the Chimp for running out to the coast on windy A/B roads with the top down. I prefer the Tuscan in town where it REALLY draws a lot of attention - especially from the Ladies! I actually prefer the noise of the Tuscan and love the "Pops n Bangs" from the sleeved exhaust. More people are prepared to race the Chimaera and I feel it has more immediate power, whereas the the Tuscan takes its time to get going. Thus far I have been faster in the Chimaera than in the Tuscan, though the Chimaera gets very light on the front end at speed and the bonnet tries to rip itself off!
When I was looking the PH guys said to have both if you can afford it and with a little hindsight I think they were right, though if "push comes to shove" it would be the Chimaera that I would sell.
