Benefits of changing/ altering the cans?!?!

I figured best to start another thread with regards to the discussion that has stemmed from "How do I sleeve my standard exhaust?" thread.
Im a bit confused.
I wish to improve the sound of my Mk1 Tuscan.
My cans are sleeved but I'm looking to improve the sound further.
I'm considering CCC's as an alternative and a few suggestions have been thrown in the air.
Am I better off de-catting and what exactly will this effect? e.g MOT emmissions? engine? performance?
Am I better off buying CCC's and what exactly will this effect? been suggested the engine may suffer? performance? emmissions? etc
Am I better off sleeving and what will this effect? again been suggested the engine may suffer? performance? emmissions? etc
Or am I better of not worrying about the noise and leaving completely standard as this will not impair the engine or performance etc?
Also if I do change to CCC's or de-cat why do I need to keep the old cans for trackdays? is it the noise level?

Carbon Cans give a great sound really deep with lots of pops and bangs on overun. Personnaly I think they are a MUST they really suit the Tuscan.
One down side is that they are generally to loud for track days, so Im told having never done a track day, so thats probably why you should keep your originals.

De-cat pipes will make it much louder, but in my experience, idle and part throttle is not much louder, but full throttle in particular over 3000rpm all hell breaks loose!
It will then be very unlikely to pass emissions on an MOT, but if you have a non-S engine you can get a fueling chip that means it's very likely to pass ok assuming the engines in good tune.
The main advantage for me personally with de-cat pipes is the standard TVR cats tend to break up and burn out quickly and this can cause bit's of the cats to get sucked back into the engine. Yes it's true, TVR power will tell you this.

without wishing to cause offence to people who decat there cars, its my opinion that it makes them too loud. your average man and woman walking down the street will think your cars broken making that kind of noise! also, the penalties that can arise if caught without cats are scary!

mossy, sleeving or CCC's will not have any effect on the breakdown of your cats. The engine does that for you anyway over time.
Sleeving or CCC's will give you more noise and pops and bangs on the overun. Sleeving is cheaper and probably not reversable(if the sleeves stick/rust in), CCC's are a bolt on/off option.

mossy your in surrey, you should go along to the surrey TVRCC meeting, there is bound to be a Tuscan there that is decatted etc.
Probably a good idea Whitey.The only way i'm gonna know about the true sound I desire before spending is to hear a few other tuscans. Will keep my eyes peeled for a meet and take it from there.
