Afternoon all,

Just thought I'd mention that my insurance is up for renewal next month at Privilege were trying to charge me a whopping £1,637 for my Tuscan S, garaged overnight with 6 years NCB. yikes

Phoned around and everyone was quoting slightly under or waaaaay over, so gave A-Plan a call. Lovely girl called Claire helped me out and got my premium down to £805, paying monthly!

Nice!!!

Sounds like a good price. How old are you?

I recently changed from Tesco to Admiral.

Tesco wanted 840 quid all in, Admiral charged me 440 quid.

No question where I was spending my money really!

living in london I could never get below £1000 a year until I discovered Classicline 2 years ago and their limited mileage policies. Garaged and full NCB is about £600 ish on 5000 miles a year.

I've just done a check on moneysupermarket.com and the best price for me....
29 years old
9 no claims
10000 miles + business use
£645 RAC (they only count the first 5 years for full no claims)

I would recommend trying moneysupermarket.com as it gives you tips on how to lower your premium.
i.e I added my dad as a name driver and it knocked off nearly £200 because hes over 40+ .

I'm 29 and live in central London. I tried Moneysupermarket and the other comparison sites and all the quotes were coming back were stupidly high. I tried adding my mum which brought it down about £60, then tried adding the girlfriend which brought it down about £200... strange!

Anyway, as it's my only car I can't put it on with Haggerty or any of the two car policies - I'm sure that would have reduced it even further. Admiral quoted £790 with a bit of named driver tweaking, but then when I asked to pay monthly it went up to £1300... er, no thanks!

ETA - Just thought I'd try RAC as Mills24 got such a good quote ... £2605!! What?!
ETA - £3501 without a named driver! yikes

Could you buy an old banger for a hundred quid and insure it third party... then go with Hagerty?

Unfortunately I have nowhere to keep an extra car. Plus I guess after buying it, keeping it taxed, etc it would probably work out to about what I'm paying now anyway!

I phoned Hagerty, guy on the phone was really unhelpful. Didn't ask about any NCB or driving/license history. Just took car details, asked if it would be garaged then phoned back half an hour later with a quote of 1200 quid.

Thanks but no thanks.
