Tuscan newby

I have left Chimaera`s and joined the ranks of Speed sixes. There will be lots of questions no doubt, I pick it up next week.

Just done the same! They are different beasts altogether - treat the Tuscan with respect. Torque/grunt comes in higher up the rev range, consequently speed that much higher, so harder to gather up when the back end starts to "rotate".

Been thinking about doing the same. I've had my Chim 450 for the past 3 years and seriously contemplating Tusc 2. It's a nice problem to have though, I do admit.

Though my hesitation is that after the 'exchange' it's going to feel (don't quite know how to describe it) wrong somehow..

So to those who have moved, what are your opinions on the cars. Am I worrying about nothing?

Then of course the problem of choosing a convertible or a targa..! To go 'S' or not.

I went from a 400 Chim that I'd spent a fair amount on to an '06 T2S of the later curvy dash variety. Had some early issues, throttle pots were way out and the alternator went. Apart from that I've had no issues at all. I have not got the musty smell I used to get in the Chim, but I have got the leather/hide smell from what I think is a much nicer interior. I certainly find the seats a lot more comfortable. And the Tuscan has a more sorted, better built, complete package feel to it that the Chim had.

One thing, the Tuscan is a lot more raw and loud, although it is quieter at 95 leptons than at 85.

The S6 howl is different tothe V8 growl - to my ears, when giving the Tusc some wellie, it sounds like a 'proper' English sports car (still love the V8 noise though).

Love the Tuscan, I reckon it's a better overall car to the Chim, I just wish it was a tad quieter () - mind you, I have got RG's oval cans and intermediates on although they have given it a deeper, lass raspy sound than the standard cans that were on - and look a whole lot better too. But for me, it's not a long distance tourer as was the Chim. After 4 - 5 hours in the car we start to feel a bit 'buzzy'. But that's the kind of car it is, we accept that.

As has been said in these forums before, the Tuscan is a 'racer', the Chim a 'tourer'

Performance is in a different league, but fuel consumption has stayed at around the 25 - 26 mark.

'spose the bottom line question is would I go back to a Chim?? Answer is no. But I may just put a V8 in place of the S6 eventually.

Oh and another thing, be prepared for people to stop and stare!!

Dito except I got a Mk1 and then a Mk2 Convertible.
Also except the bit about racer and tourer.
I've driven to Gertmany and France many times in both my Mk1 and Mk2 and had a good run around Spain in my Mk2 and feel the Tuscan is every bit as good as the Chimaera for touring.

I think the Tuscan on std exhausts with the roof in is so much quieter than my Griff 500 & makes a better touring car IMHO

I guess I was just lucky this time, there have been others which passed me by. I will put money on it raining next weekend when I have the car and spoiling the experience.

Thanks Ubernoober & So Called. Went to have a look at one over the weekend. Very different car indeed. Think I might be able to get used to a S6 delight..
Now all I need to do is decide between the targa and convertible. Tony, any wise words or comments between them?

Hi Wazal,
The bit below is taken from a recent mail I sent, so rather write it again I've copied it.

I think its the old story for me.
The Targa looks better than the convertible with the roof up and visa versa with the top down in my opinion.
I was absolutely delighted to get my hands on the convertible and like it very much.
I still miss the Targa ability to leave the roof on but take the rear screen out.
Seems a bit picky but I like to drive down to Spain or France and rear screen out on the Autoroute is hard to beat (memories of my Mk1).
Then, driving around in the evening in the convertible with the roof down is then also hard to beat.

Its a terrible dilemma you have

Fuel cap is ok just need to take a knife to it
