Hi all,
Need a new battery for my tuscan S (2003),usual problem battery will not hold charge even when left on trickle charger, starts fine first time and then second but if i'm only on a short run out wonn't start third time round, could someone please tell which is best to buy and where to get it from, a link would be great.

These will all fit the Tuscan - just depends how much you want to spend.
Great site though - next day delivery and cheaper than Halfrauds.
Check your battery mounting is sound and the condition of your leads / Anderson charge point at the same time.

Needing to order up a new battery for the Tuscan. The link on this thread points to a type 072 (E24), but the site itself (if you select the car type) recommends an 096R (E12). The battery that's in the car right now is a Varta 067 (E9).
Looking at the dimensions -
072 (E24) 260 x 173 x 225
096R (E12) 278 x 175 x 190
067 (E9) 278 x 175 x 175
The 067 that's in the now doesn't fit correctly in the tray, it's a little too long (so neither will the 096R) but isn't the 072 a little high? And I know the 096R means the +ve and -ve are reversed, but why that one and not the regular 096?
Only a Tuscan could make me discuss the dimensions of car batteries on a Monday morning!!!

I'm confused! What battery do people typically go for then? 072, 067, 096 blah blah. Means nothing to me. I havent looked what I've currently got and even if I do how do I know that is correct?
As JET says, are they all basically the same and we just need to be careful with the dimensions? And what's the reason for the Redtop and the Exide Maxima being £150+?

Expecting to recieve an Optima Red Top today for fitment this evening.
They're more expensive as they're a different type of battery (Absorbant Glass Mat (AGM) as opposed to flooded lead-acid) that offer superior Cranking Current, vibration, tempertaure, and deep cycle discharge resistance. They also hold their charge for longer when unused and I believe that when subjected to a dead short are much less likely to explode than normal lead-acid batteries, all which can only be a good thing in a Tuscan!
In the instance of the the Red Top, the +ve terminal is more inboard and away from the chassis than a conventional battery too.

Yep, Optima Red Top from Tayna.co.uk. Fitted it last night and it fits perfectly. Needed a little bit of jiggery pokery with the bracket but other than that all good.
The battery provides so much more juice when cranking, the engine really whizzes round! The windows also go up and down at a decent speed and some random electrical gremlins (odd error codes, faulty door buttons etc.) that had cropped up also seem to have dissapeared so I'd say money well spent.
