Sat Nav Mount

Not being content with the way my Sat Nav sits in the Tuscan, or more specifically, is jammed in the parcel shelf !, I came up with this solution.

I have pinned the “cigar” tray to stop the ball moving, used some Velcro at the base of the ash tray underneath out of view, and using some copper pipe [ brass would look better ] have made a push in tight fit to the ash tray, and attached the Sat Nav mount to the top of the copper tube.
Positioning is IMO spot on, it stays nice and steady, and easy to remove with no signs of attachments.

Good idea that Mark, ninetynine used to have a similar set up on his mark1 which he used as a camera mount before it was unfortunately written off by an idiot.

If you look on top of my dash you can see a "bean bag" GPS mount.
Its illegal to mount your Sat Nav on the screen in California so these are whats used instead.

Do you mean the bean bag ?

My GPS is a Garmin who do their own similar base but this was a fit anyone base from FRY's Electrics in Sacramento. Its just a heavy bean bag base with a shiney blastic surface for the sucker.
It does occasionally land on the wifes lap when over doing things but mostly stays put.

I got myself the TomTom car kit for the iPhone. It comes with a very good suction cup for screen mounting and with a selfadhesive plastic plate to mount it on the dash. You can nicely turn it into horizontal position and it serves as a hands free phone kit at the same time. Works excellent + you can read your mails or surf the PH pages in a traffic jam + you can also connect it to the radio to listen to the (iPod) stored music. All this at 200 quid including the TomTom Sofware for iphone.
