Is there not some law in place now that replacenemnt cats must be type approved for vehicles 2001 or newer? The cheap cats don't have this, the more expensive items, which I guess are the same but carry the mark do?

I had a pair of these and they lasted less than 500 miles.....melted with no apparent reason, well tuned with a re-map to run with cats. It was only by chance I decided to replace with the de-cats that I noticed the damage. Last year they were 80 quid each.I had a pair of these and they lasted less than 500 miles.....melted with no apparent reason, well tuned with a re-map to run with cats. Thanks for the tip,The thing is I think mine is an S and speaking to 1 of the leading Tvr engine builders last year sometime, they said that a decat chip is not needed for the S and the only sure way to find out is to check the injectors nozzles using a mirror and see if they are twin or single jet/nozzle, S being twin.
Now is it an S or is it a red rose? Everything externally, Rear spoiler, 57mm exhaust, big brakes, all original S badges, owners hand book S version, log book says sport. but the rear relectors are in the spoiler unlike some of the other S models which have the indicator lights in the spoiler.
Tried checking the injector nozzles but unable to see whether or not single or double.
Would like to know if anybody with a genuine S has the number 2290 inscribed, stamped or written on the injectors when viewed from the passenger side of engine, can be seen easily or any otherway of telling the differance between the models
Thanks
Steve
