Brake Lights

Hey guys,

Just popped out and when I got back I noticed my brake lights appear to be stuck on! Dabbed the pedel and no change in brightness, turned all the lights on and no change. They do go off with ignition thankfully. Any ideas on where I should start looking?

Check the brake switch first.
No experience myself, but it should be mounted behind the brake pedal. You will have to take the aluminium cover of first. When doing this make sure that the bolt length form the bolts that stop the pedal stroke stays the same when mounting it again.

Definately check the switch. It's a bit fiddly, but ultimately a pretty easy fix. It may just need bending or lubing.

Cheers guys seems to be the switch, squirted some WD40 in there and the lights went off after a bit of pumping. Will get the cover off when I can break my arms enough to fit down there!

I had something similar - my brake lights were just not working... Turned out to be the micro switch that needed cleaning (but bought a spare one anyway for £1.50).

Took the pedal cover off, and the amount of gunk that was under it was unbelievable. I would suggest you do it as well. Especially if you lubbed it with WD40, it will all stick together and by next year it might come alive and bite your leggs!!! :-) Seriously though, give it a good clean, and it will be fine.

I think RG now offers some CFC leg protectors
