Roof catch not retracting

Ive had a problem over recent weeks when taking the roof off.

When using the levers in the boot to remove the roof I am finding the nearside catch is not fully releasing the roof.

It means every time I take the roof off the rubber seal on the windscreen comes away meaning I have to re-seat it each time. Also when putting the roof back on I have to use a long cylindrical object (I use a 10mm drill bit) to push the catch in so I able to get the roof on.

Anyone got any ideas?

May well be problems with cable,stretching, or needs oiling. But had the same problem only to find the roof fitting to be the issue.

Seem'd like the relase pin would hold the last couple of mils onthe roof catch, and so not be able to lift out roof section. On inspection found to be the fitting on the roof had moved. Its held with two allen bolts and is designed to be adjustable, I think when getting roof into the boot its been moved. This being the back edge of the roof which gets wedged in first, and forced against the top of the fuel tank.

Found this to be my problem worth a quick check.

Will check the fitting on the roof.

I have noticed though that the pointed pin doesnt retract as far on the nearside, almost like the lever cant pull it in far enough

I had the same problem and discovered that the very flimsy mild steel bracket in the boot, which acts as a pivot for the lever, was bent. I managed to straighted it out, by hand and in situ, and every thing has been fine since.

I had this last year. The cablehd snapped and was replaced by th TVR Centre.
