misfire then cut out
Discussion
Took the car out yesterday for a run, only had the gearbox in a week and new shocks on a few days, driving along it misfired a few times, through a EFI fault up on the dash then conked out leaving me stranded on the side of the M3.
The rev counter seemed to drop to zero so I guessed at crank sensor, the RAC came out and we tried giving it a clean, it ran for a little bit but was missing badly then stopped again.
I've tried my spare coil pack and that's made no difference, chucked a new set of plugs in, the leads are new magnecores, had in on the diagnostics and all faults are showing as ok.
I'll try changing the crank sensor when I can get one? any other ideas?

You could try unplugging / reconnecting the bulkhead connector which connects the engine loom to the module. You have to take the airbox lid off to get to it.
After that I would try unplugging the module and inspecting the connector and pins for possible water ingress.
Possibly a dodgy fuse connection that supplies power to the module...
The wiring diagram schematic for the engine loom is on here...
