1st problem : engine fan never stopping

after a ride in my new pride and joy, water temp reached 92°C and one engine fan came on which seems ok

but now that the engine is cold, if I put the ignition on, this fan goes on immediatly even if the engine is not started.

I've changed the fan relay in the fuse panel, I've tried to change the fan fuse too but nothing changed after : this fan is always on and never stopping when ignition is on.

The MIL warning light came on too, but stopped after a ride.

What should I do? Thank you.

Could be a faulty temperature sender, or a faulty relay.

Is the water temp showing cool once the engine is cooled?

Relay changed by myself without success in stopping the fan

Do you have air-con? It's probably the trinary switch. see on www.clever-trevor.net for what it looks like. Might just be slight corrosion, so you may be able to fix it.

It's inside the aircon reciever drier, which is inside the Drives side (in the UK anyway!) front wing. You need to remove the headlight panel from inside the wing to get to it.

Trinary switch. Exact same fault on my Sagaris. Fans on all the time even when cold. Changed trinary (Hexham) You need to recharge the aircon though.

nice shot ! I've disconnected the trinary switch and it stopped. Is it possible to drive with the trinary disconnected or is it dangerous for the air-con or the engine?

In order to verify there is no major problem driving without any trinary switch engaged, I've tried to simulate a warm up of the engine this afternoon. At 92°C water temp, first fan came on engaged without any trouble, so it seems OK like this. Now I'm going to buy a new trinary switch...
