CAR RUNS SMOOTHER ON MOBIL 0-W40 OR IS IT ME.

Usualy I use 5-w40 fully synthetic oil. I got a good deal on Mobil 0-w40 fully sythetic so thought I'd try it. Drained the oil about 6 liters filled with mobil 0-w40, car sounds much smoother now.

I was about to say, you might find that it 'uses' more oil. Mine certainly did. But I always worked on the basis that at least it was continuously getting fresh oil.

Hmmm. I actually use 15/60 Miller racing oil in mine. Now I KNOW I am opening up a can of worms here. but have done 8000 miles in mine. No problems at all. The reason i had was that the pressure was soooo low when hot ( as per usual with S6) that the heavier oil adds 10 psi through the whole system. Now seems fine and when the engine is up at 90 deg + it gets the oil it needs. I am sure as said that there will be another debate coming.

Agreed, there is no way I would run my S6 on light oils synthetic or not. The oil pressure drops way too low on a hot engineusing the more conventional SAE oils. Those of you running these light oils consider draining it off from a hot engine (kids be careful doing this at home), it will run like water. Unless you are running the car in all year round sub zero climates then 0-40 is just not necessary in my opinion. Further more, I come to wonder if this would more likely accelerate the S6 component wear, particularly in the top end.

If I recall correctly, Al Melling mentioned 20W50.....? Not sure fill my Tusc up with old school Castrol GTX, but I'd probably feel happy dropping Mobil 15W50 Motorsport oil in.

Coming from a Chimaera I was surprised at not having to use £50-a-gallon Mobil 1. I've been advised to use Comma 0-40 and yes, it seems to 'use' it.

I personally have only ran the civic on 0w-40 synthetic. £50quid for 5L i think. Already used 6L nailing it for >10k.
