Engine Mileages.......................
Discussion
Unfortunately, depending who did the rebuild and when, it could still be anything from 20k upwards. 2003 isn't recent enough for all of the bugs to be identified, as plenty of Tuscan, T350 and even some Sagaris owners will testify. Although the early "finger follower" problems were pretty much sorted by then, the fast wearing valve guides and other faults don't seem to have been addressed until much newer rebuilds.
Sorry if this sounds unduly negative, but a Tuscan rebuild at 6k is *cheap*, even if it is a risk after 30k or so miles! Compare it with the 15k cost of a rebuild on something like a Porsche 993 Turbo or Italian exotica at many times that price, albeit less frequently, and you can see where the savings in engineering investment from Blackpool pan out for us owners.
I would console yourself that Speed 6 engined TVRs are a bargain because of this well known risk, and if the worst does happen, then the current 2008 rebuilds offered by TVR Power, Racing Green etc all seem to be pretty bomb-proof. Budget 6k for engine work at some point in the ownership experience and you'll be a happy bunny.

Rebuilt lasted only 2.5k? Presumably you were lucky in the fact the work will have been under warranty unless ya do less than 1k a year.
It was 6 months old. And you'd like to think that the dealer would stand by their work wouldn't you
