EURO ROAD TRIP: Alarm/Immobiliser issues
Discussion
Hi there,
We're off on a European road trip on Tuesday in our Mark 1 Tuscan
(Plymouth, Santander, Caceres, Evora, Lagos, Guadix, Pau, Millau, Bourges, Reims, Calais) and can't wait
I read a thread on here about people having issues with the radar on ferries having an effect on the car, and not being able to get into it, and then start it.
Does anyone have any experience of this, or any suggestions for us?
Cheers,
Fin
P.S. I've just had the engine rebuilt by Jason Clegg at str8-six to Tuscan S spec and after 1200 miles running it in, it now feels fantastic

You're right I've read this as well and then forgot it all! What I can say is I've never had any problems on the Dover/ Calais ferries. I would have thought that locking them on board shouldn't be a problem as you are shielded from the radar above by several decks of metal, waiting to get on I would think is when you are more likely to have a problem.
Sounds like a great journey have fun and pictures up here when you get back

I've been on a lot of ferries and the channel tunnel train many times in the last 2 years in my Tuscan and have never had a problem.
I did have a problem at Hannover Airport once parking at the Departures short stay. I was right near the radar tower.
Jason did my engine 18 months ago.
He put roller bearings in my throttle bodies this year. Thats made a heck of a difference. Jason is very good.
Had a nice 150mph run this morning down to the Hertz Mountains in Germany.
Sounds like a nice run your going. Have fun.
Tony.

'We' had a road trip this year in the T350, though your trip will overlap ours only at Millau. And Calais, if I'm picky.
No issues at all. Well, nothing to do with the alarm etc. (she whinged about fueling in the Alps, but I sort of expected that). Isn't the whole continental trains/immobiliser thingy an urban myth?
If she has been looked after, and Jason is getting quite a reputation, you'll be fine. Take some oil and a bottle of water. And all the crap you have to carry for legal reasons, just in case you get stopped...
Enjoy!
